Be thankful for what you have

Scoble (whom I actually met in person at Gnomedex!) has a very thoughful post on being thankful for what you have. Many times we feel that life is not being fair to us. But in fact life is like that only and we should be thankful for what we have. People have problems that are much worse and often insurmountable. And yet they do live on and make a life out of it. Life is a gift of God and even though at times life is a bitch, we got to try to live it to the max!

You r absolutely right gaurav. but its all about how are you feeling at a particular point of time. when u r depressed then these kinds of thought make u feel better and help u to come out of the depression but u hardly remember of these things when u r happy. no one is satisfied with whatever he has. expectations increase day by day. and then how can one be happy.

Some times you feel your just so lucky, everything is going the way you wanted, you are on the top of the world e.t.c and some times it looks like life is so unfair to you, whatever you do, it backfires - you fail e.t.c

This mood fluctuation occurs for people who lead a life that is not pegged down by correct principles. Nowadays the fad is to just follow your heart(lust). There is a difference between following your passion and following your lust.
Most people follow their lust and they think they are following their passion. Passion comes from your principles - correct principles that have stood the test of time.
When you look at your life from the point of view of your principles, you neither get depressed when faced with failure nor you rejoice like a monkey when you taste success.

In this day and age, people are slowly drifting away from principle centred life and are finding it very comfortable to follow their lust - which gives pleasure and excitement temporarily.

One has to be righteous and stick to correct principles under all circumstances. This is the secret to a blissful life.

wow!!! cool thought...
This is the right attitude towards life. If we are thankful for what we have then I think we are the happiest person on the earth.

Reminds me of a quote by Oprah
"If you look at what you have in life, you'll always have more. If you look at what you don't have in life, you'll never have enough."

Well but as palak says there are times when one feels depressed, however you may hate to be in that state, it does happend.
I read a post about confidence cheats which might be helpful to others too. Here's the link
Knowing one's confidence cheats might help to minimize the depressed state.

Nice thought Gaurav !

But very rarely these thoughts strike our mind at right time. When we are happy all the positive thoughts come into our mind and when you are feeling low, your mind is full of all the negative thoughts. Its easy said than being done. One has no control over the thoughts. We think the way we want to think !
I am sorry if I am sounding too negative.

Hope you checked your pic in Living Digital magazine (In june,06 issue: Features -BarCamp).
Looking serious As always. :)

Thanks for the great comments folks! I agree that this is easier said than done. When you are happy, you take things for granted. I guess that is just human nature and we have to accept it!

Paavani - I had no idea! I guess I am gonna have to buy that magazine! I somehow just can't smile in front of the camera :((

Past is history, future is mystery and present is Gift from God.Probably that's why its called "present".Live today like there was no tomorrow. I know its easier said then done but that is the Truth which all of us have to face one day.
