Google ads on my blog

I am experimenting with google ads on my blog. I am curious to see if I can make any money at all from my blog. I want to buy the Nokia 9500 which costs roughly $700. Since I have never bought a cell phone (in US cell phone comes free with the plan), I am reluctant to pay for it out of my pocket (especially when that cell phone costs an arm and a leg!). So I have decided that all "proceeds" from blog ads will go to my cell phone kitty. I just hope my good old T-610 can last till then (unlikely...).

i have earned 2 bucks so far since i actually activated them, but mine are typepad ads. Google can earn you quite a bit of money and faster. I heard about a guy who earns $30000/month just from google ads.

30 grand a month! I will be more than happy making 300 a month!

Gaurav, let me help you buy the Nokia 9500 this month itself. Just follow two things:

1. Remove the border (make border color same as your background color)

2. Don't use the 468x60 format - Choose a wide rectangle like 300x250

Hello Gaurav, I would recommend you to look at the Winodws Mobile 5.0 powered smartphones that can do much more than the Nokias and cost less than $700. I recently bought the QTEK8300 (HTC Tornado based) smartphone and it can beat any Nokia hands down !

Hey
adsense works on how many ppl' click on your page and not with page views. You don't click your own page and it will deactivated.
It takes a lot to earn money. I have been active for a long time and I have made only few dolalrs.

Amit - I have removed the border based on your suggestion. The wider rectangle is not fitting well with my blog format so will need to think more about how to use it without spoiling the layout.

Anando - I agree that the Windows Mobile powered phones are pretty neat. I just haven't seen them being used much in India. Nokias are on the other hand extremely popular!

Priya - I am realizing it takes a lot to make any money from adsense! I was just curious to try it. If I end up making just a few bucks in a month, I might as well not display any ads!

i bought Samsung 5100 before leaving (Rs.3500), traded in the razr because i kept dropping it and i need something simple, really small and sturdy. Plus i hardly ever used features such as a camera or anything else ever in US. Its serving me pretty good.

Should go for a cheap one if you're not interested in th features, but if you are can't blame you, being in India somehow just attracts a person to play more with the phone. Check out Moto Pebl, its really smooth.

Hi Gaurav

Wish you best of luck, and let me click on one ad and just put one drop of water in your bucket

Sell out ;-)

I just clicked on an ad for Automotive DesignLine, it seems like a space for engg who are interested in auto design. So much for targeted advertising :(. Nevertheless, it should add to your kitty.

I hope Google will solve click-fraud. Could a few bucks a month at least pay for your hosting? If so I might be interested too.
