Our cricketing heroes defy the law of averages
I resisted hard to not blog about our cricket team since their dismal performance against Pakistan earlier this (of which I was a witness) However, since then, the team's performance has reached a new low - lower than a snake's belly - that low! In what must be a record, the team has lost 19 of the last 20 finals it has played in torunaments of 3 or more countries. In fact, since 1999, India has won only one tournament. And since its defeat in the finals of the World Cup, India has not won any trophies at all.
It is not the sub-par performance of our men in blue that suprises me anymore . But what I find amazing is how consistently our team has defied the law of averages. I think it must take a lot of effort to lose so regularly. There must have been at least 2 or 3 instances amongst these 19 lost finals when the opposing team was having a bad day. At those times, how our team managed to have an even worse day is beyond me. I feel sorry for our team. Even though they underperform and generally suck, they should win at least once more now - not because they deserve to, but because the law of averages should catch up with them!

Well actually you should blog more freely about the dismal performance of the India cricket team. Thats the very purpose of blogs and the whole blogosphere -- bring your views and comments to a larger section of society.
Anyways Indian cricket team is truly missing Sachin. I have one more expectation from him -- lead the way to make India world champions once again. He is already a demi god in India. Post a world cup victory, he would surely be a god!

Aayush, I had to restrain myself from blogging about our cricket team because anything that I might have written would have been too expletive ridden to be put out in public :)
I also hope that Tendulkar comes back soon but I really don't think he can lead us to a world cup victory alone. We need a much younger and fresh team to even have a chance to win. Tendulkar will definitely play an important role but he can't win it alone.

i guess even that's an art our tram has learnt...to consistently be the chokers..
Maybe they think if they win a final, the already tall mountain of expectations that the junta has with them would rocket further in the enxt series. So they like disappointing us.:D
jokes apart, i guess it's got a lot to do with temperament and handling of pressure. You'd be surprised if u saw the averages of even someone like sehwag and Dravid in the finals...infact Dravid gets 'bowled' out in finals so often, which is rather shocking, for we all know he's so technically sound.
but something just gets to them.
Now don't ask me what?

I agree its about temperament. But how long does it take to learn from past mistakes? 19 mistakes and counting. Really makes me wonder about the learnability of our players. Today's news had something about suspicions of match fixing in this series. I wonder if that is what makes us such chokers!
